The Cove Restaurant, Maenporth

In an era of commuter villages and second-home ghost towns, Mawnan remains a thriving community with local stores and a centrally located thatched inn, The Red Lion.

Serving lunches and evening meals, the grade-II listed pub is extremely popular with visitors and locals alike. Dispensing hospitality for at least the last three centuries, The Red Lion is only a hundred yards or so from Wesley Cottage.

Also in the village itself is
Giuseppe’s - an extremely popular Italian restaurant. While all tastes are catered for, seafood dishes are a particular speciality.

At Helford Passage visitors will find the
Ferryboat Inn. Here it is possible to take in the views of the Helford River while partaking of the first-rate oysters from its waters.

The Cove at Maenporth is particularly renowned for its fine cuisine. Run by the highly regarded chef, Arty Williams, the ever changing menu is testament to the principle of sourcing food locally and as fresh as possible. And it also offers some fine views out into Falmouth Bay.

It is also possible for non-residents of local hotels to book tables in their restaurants. The Meudon, Trelawne and Budock Vean Hotels are all situated in the parish, and each has a reputation for fine dining.

Of course, Cornwall as a whole is home to numerous award-winning restaurants including Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen at Watergate Bay, and Rick Stein’s famous establishment in Padstow. Other noted establishments in easy reach include The Flying Fish and 5 Degrees West (both in Falmouth).

And there are plenty of country inns to choose from wherever you go in Cornwall.
