Wesley Cottage is located close to the centre of the village of Mawnan Smith, some five miles south of Falmouth on Cornwall’s south coast.
Arguably one of the UK’s most beautiful parishes, its gentle, more pastoral, landscape is in huge contrast to the rugged nature of other parts of Cornwall. Bordered by the open sea to the east and the Helford River to the south, it possesses some of the finest views and maritime countryside to be found anywhere in Europe.
Mawnan Smith itself is a well-served village, benefiting from several shops, a post office, an Italian restaurant and a 15th century inn, The Red Lion. It also boasts a recently restored traditional blacksmith’s shop and several of the country’s most celebrated gardens: Glendurgan, Trebah and Carwinion. The parish is also home to the hamlet of Durgan, Helford Passage and the ancient settlement of Mawnan itself (where the original 13th century church is located).
Horse riding, fishing, golf and boat hire are available in the vicinity, although some pursuits may be seasonal. The village is also conveniently located for visiting some of Cornwall’s premier attractions such as The Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount, and towns such as Truro, Falmouth and St. Ives.
